The Maine’s latest release, ‘Pioneer,’ was a departure from their usual pop rock sound, lending itself to the likes of ’90s alt-rock. With all songs written by the band, “Misery” is one of the most personal, what with it being based on “the worst night” of singer John O’Callaghan’s life. The video shows O’Callaghan tied to a chair in front of a car that holds the rest of the band, singing thoughtfully into the night.
