Chicago rock band Styx has just announced that they will be commencing their upcoming tour in on October 14 in Evansville, Ind. For all you Styx fans, this is definitely the tour to snag a ticket to. Tommy Shaw, James “JY” Young, Lawrence Gowan, Todd Sucherman, and Ricky Phillips are planning to blow away their audiences with a unique exhibition of not only the band’s hits, but several songs that have never been performed. The band will be performing both their 1977 album The Grand Illusion and the 1978 album Pieces of Eight in their entireties.
“This is the most unique concert ever,” said lead singer/guitarist Tommy Shaw. “It’s a hybrid experience of enjoying the artistry of the vinyl album and the energy of the live performance. Some songs have never been performed live!”
Styx has performed more shows since 1999 than in previous decades since their beginnings in the early 1970s. With 15 studio albums, six best-of compilations, and four live albums to their name, Styx is planning to release their seven-song EP, Regeneration, Volume 1, during the October/November legs of the tour.
