Ray Davies Maps Out US Tour

** UPDATED: Davies has added more shows, including one Canadian date. See below for full tour schedule.

Ray Davies has announced a US tour in support of his most recent release, ‘See My Friends,’ an album of collaborations between the English rock legend and a number of prominent musicians, reinterpreting classic Kinks songs. Among the artists who appear on the record are Bruce Springsteen, Metallica, Billy Corgan, Jackson Browne, Lucinda Williams, Black Francis, The 88, and the late Alex Chilton.

Davies had to cancel a US tour last fall due to illness. At the time, ‘See My Friends’ had not yet officially been released in the US, but was already out in the UK. As such, this will be his first US appearance since March 2010. Davies will be playing songs from The Kinks’ catalogue as well as his solo material, including songs from 2006’s ‘Other People’s Lives.’

The tour starts with an appearance at the Voodoo Fest in New Orleans, a town that Davies has often expressed an affinity for, despite having been shot in the leg by muggers there in 2004.

The Kinks’ frontman will be performing with The 88 on the first leg of the tour, including at the Voodoo Fest show. Beginning with the November 18 gig at the Wellmont Theater in Montclair, NJ, Davies will be backed by his own band. A choir will also join Davies and his band for that date and three other subsequent dates.
