Punks Get Ready to Skank and Give Back at Vans Warped Tour 2010

The music festival that punk fans everywhere await the entire year for is finally upon us. That’s right – this year’s Vans Warped Tour kicks off in three days in Carson, Calif. The festival, which is the longest-running music festival and is in its 16th year, will wrap up on August 15 in Hillsboro, Ore.

As most Vans Warped Tour devotees know, the lineup is different in every city. Bands this year range from newcomers 3OH3! to “old-school” favorites like ska band Reel Big Fish.

Sponsored stages include the Altec Stage, where Breathe Carolina, Set Your Goals, and Hey Monday will all be signing autographs and playing games with the audience. The Glamour Kills Stage will have new summer bands rocking out and a meet-and-greet.  Bands at the AP/Advent Stage include NeverShoutNever, the Cab, the Rocket Summer, Anarbor, Polar Bear Club, Fake Problems, and more.  The Ernie Battle of the Bands stage will feature over 15,000 unsigned bands from across the country competing for various prizes.  The Ernie Battle of the Bands is in its 14th year and is this year’s home to fan favorites May Day Parade, Automatic Loveletter, Eyes Set to Kill, and more.

Vans Warped Tour is not only known for its music. The festival provides a wide array of activities for the audience to partake in. The Vans Skate Ramp’s “Amateur Mini-Ramp Skate Jam” provides skaters the opportunity to win up to $500. Female skaters can venture out to Skatera Girlz Garage to freshen up on their skate equipment.

Fans can head to the Kia Motors’ sponsored Soul Lounge to kick back, relax, get an airbrush tattoo, win prizes, and even have the opportunity for a meet-and-greet with Hey Monday and NeverShoutNever. Kia Motors also sponsors the Kevin Says Stage, which allows local bands to take the stage.

Fans can learn how to DJ at the truth® truck, cool down and get safe at the TROJAN® dome, get a taste of Monster Energy’s new drink, “Nitrous Monster,”  and win signed posters from the cast of Liongate’s “The Expendables.” Attendees can also satisfy their sweet tooth and create a poster at the Wonka Tent, win a pair of jeans at the Amethyst Jean Machine, have some photo fun at the Skullcandy Tent, and meet bands at the Advent/Aural Fix Nation Tent.

Vans Warped Tour tends to all fans – especially those in need.  The MusiCares® tent offers a support system to musicians and will have representatives available to tend to people’s personal and medical emergencies.   The official Nonprofit Area will contain over 20 charities, in which one can create a Concrete Wave passport to win prizes, as well as a “Warped Photo Booth” where fans can cherish their memories.
