Peter Hook to Bring ‘Closer’ to North America

Joy Division/New Order bassist Peter Hook and his band The Light will return to North America this fall for select dates, performing Joy Division’s 1980 album ‘Closer’ in its entirety.

Last year, Hook and his band toured playing Joy Division’s debut album, ‘Unknown Pleasures.’ This time around, their focus is on ‘Closer,’ but they will also bring ‘Unknown Pleasures’ to cities that they didn’t play last year.

Hook has received some criticism for playing the Joy Division material at all, mostly due to sensitivity about frontman Ian Curtis’ suicide. Hook told The Daily Record, “There was a lot of criticism and backbiting around it but now I am getting to the stage where I am just really enjoying it.”
