Guided By Voices Keep Playing Just One More Show

In 2010, Robert Pollard announced that Guided By Voices would reunite for a fall tour, to fans’ delight. He even reassembled the self-described “classic” lineup that in the mid ’90s had secured GBV’s position in the indie rock pantheon of the gods. During that fall tour, they exclusively played material from their albums ‘Propeller,’ ‘Bee Thousand,’ ‘Alien Lanes’ and ‘Under the Bushes, Under the Stars,’ the four albums which the “classic” lineup recorded together. Guided By Voices had only been broken up for about five years, but their loyal fanbase didn’t need to think twice before buying tickets.

The tour originally concluded with a November 7 date at Terminal 5 in New York City, with Blitzen Trapper supporting. Then, a New Year’s Eve show was added at New York’s Irving Plaza. Guided By Voice’s original farewell tour in 2004 had concluded with a New Year’s Eve show, so it seemed a fitting way to end again. The show quickly sold out. For good measure, they added a show at Maxwell’s in Hoboken the night before.

But it just wasn’t enough! As if it was an accident, Robert Pollard used the word “Oops” when posting to his website about a new date in Lousville, KY on January 15. And if you’re already playing in Kentucky… why not play Nashville, too?

So, if you missed Guided By Voices before, here are your last two chances to see them, this time, for now:

Jan 14: Nashville, TN – Cannery Ballroom
Jan 15: Louisville, KY – Headliners Music Hall
