Brooklyn noise-rock trio A Place To Bury Strangers will tour to SXSW and back this year. APTBS have performed at SXSW three times, in 2006, 2007 and 2008. In 2008, NME chose them as one of the ten best bands at SXSW. Fellow New Yorkers Hooray For Earth will support A Place To Bury Strangers on most dates of the tour. See APTBS’ full 2011 tour schedule below.
The annual SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas is one of the largest music festivals in the US, with 2,000+ performers playing in more than 90 venues over four days. 2011 marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of the festival. In December, Rock Edition reported a partial list of 2011 SXSW performers.
For those in New York, A Place To Bury Strangers will also be playing at the I Guess I’m Floating 5th Anniversary Party at the Glasslands gallery/venue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Also on the bill are Caveman, Beach Fossils, Guards, ARMS and Dreamers of the Ghetto. Glasslands’ capacity is only 200, so the show is expected to sell out. Seeing A Place To Bury Strangers in a room as small as that is a pretty rare (and intense!) experience these days, so get your tickets now!
