Thurston Moore, guitarist and singer for New York experimental noise rock band Sonic Youth, will release his fourth solo album this May.
The album is entitled ‘Demolished Thoughts’ and was produced by consummate white boy Beck, who has been a friend and sometime-collaborator of Moore’s for many years. The album was primarily recorded at Beck’s home studio in Los Angeles. Also appearing on the record are violinist Samara Lubelski, harpist Mary Lattimore, bassist Bram Inscore, drummer Joey Waronker, and Beck.
In an interview with Philadelphia Weekly, Moore said, “Beck sings and plays a little bit on it. Samara and Mary both play on it quite extensively and very, very beautifully. Beck really put them through the paces.”
Moore is also set to perform in June at the Solid Sound festival in North Adams, MA. Solid Sound is a three-day music and arts festival which takes place at MASS MoCA. This year, the festival is curated by Wilco. Moore is set to perform twice: once solo, and once as one half of duo Pillow Wand (with Nels Cline).
‘Demolished Thoughts’ will be released by Matador Records on May 23 in the UK and May 24 in the US.
