Former Beatle, Sir Paul McCartney, has announced that he will soon compose music for a ballet!
Some of you may be dubiously raising your eyebrows, but who better to write music for ballet than the recent recipient of America’s coveted ‘Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song’?
Sir Paul McCartney isn’t a novice in the instrumental world, having written orchestral scores, four classical music releases, and a soundtrack for film. He is incredibly enthusiastic about the undertaking and has told BBC the following:
“I’m interested in doing things I haven’t done before. That offer came up and I love writing music, the two went together and I said, ‘Yeah,’ so I just accept things before I even know what I’m doing … I don’t really know that much about it yet, I’m just writing music for it, but it’s a switch!”
A deadline has yet to be set and a theme is still under wraps, but a ballet written by McCartney is definitely something to be intrigued by. Don’t go ‘nowhere, man.’
