The Fluid’s founding guitarist Rick Kulwicki has passed away at the age of 49, reports Denver newspaper Westword.
The Fluid released their first album in 1986 titled ‘Punch ‘n Judy.’ In 1988, the Denver act signed with Sub Pop Records — becoming the label’s first non-Seattle band — and released their second album, ‘Clear Black Paper.’ Throughout the early ’90s, the band went on to release a few more records and even a split 7″ with Nirvana in 1991.
For Sub Pop’s 20th anniversary in 2008, The Fluid played a reunion show in Seattle, WA.
Kulwicki died in the band’s hometown of Denver, CO on Tuesday, February 15. No cause of death has been announced yet.
