Michigan metallers The Black Dahlia Murder are poised to release their fifth full-length, ‘Ritual,’ on June 21 via Metal Blade Records.
The album was recorded in early 2011 in Detroit, MI with producer Mark Lewis (Deicide, Unearth), and mixed in Orlando, FL at Audio Hammer with Jason Suecof (BDM, Beneath the Massacre, Job for a Cowboy, All That Remains).
In regards to the direction that the band took on ‘Ritual,’ vocalist Trevor Strnad remarked, “This is the first time we have fully realized a concept for an album. We wanted to choose something that would exemplify the very essence of the band… something that would be ‘more TBDM’ than anything we have released to this point. All of the lyrics to Ritual are bound by a common thread of black magick and the occult, the worship of darkness, and the preservation of inner strength and will.”
Check out the band’s new single “Moonlight Equilibrium” below. Guitarist Brian Eschbach describes the track as “…full of maximum overdrive melody and crushing beats that’ll hopefully leave you maniacs thirsting for more.”
The Black Dahlia Murder are currently on tour with Amon Amarth and Evocation, and will be kicking off the Summer Slaughter Tour in late July with Whitechapel, Darkest Hour, Six Feet Under, Dying Fetus, As Blood Runs Black, Oceano, Fleshgod Apocalypse, and Powerglove.
