Spindrift Ready New Album for Release

Back in November, Rock Edition told you about Spindrift’s Kickstarter campaign, raising funding to record their next album. The campaign was a success, and two months later, ‘Classic Soundtracks’ has been finished!

During the week that Spindrift was recording the album at Hicksville Trailer Palace in Joshua Tree, CA, they also filmed three videos for songs off of the record. A recent press release from Spindrift’s new label, Xemu Records, stated that ‘Classic Soundtracks’ “was written as themes from movies the band conceived in their own minds. The movies will eventually be brought to life as each song on the album will be accompanied by a music video produced by a different director each time.”

The first video, “Theme From Confusion Range,” premiered last night at La Cave in Costa Mesa, CA. Spindrift also performed. Tonight and tomorrow night, Spindrift will play two more video release party/shows in Indio, CA and in Los Angeles, CA. The video was directed by Simon Chan, director of Dead Meadow’s film The Three Kings. Spindrift’s Kirpatrick Thomas said of the video, “It’s an homage to 70’s slasher films.”

The album will be released in Spring 2011 on Xemu Records.
