On August 8, Eric Stevenson, drummer for the now-defunct band Only Living Witness, died at the age of 46 from melanoma.
Stevenson formed Only Living Witness in 1989 with vocalist Jonah Jenkins. The band’s first recording, which was self-titled, was released in 1990 on cassette. Two years later, the four-piece signed with Century Media Records and ultimately released two albums with the label.
Throughout the years, the Massachusetts-based rockers opened for a slew of acts, including Corrosion of Conformity, Slap Shot, Leeway, Sheer Terror, Prong, and Starkweather.
The group split up in October 1995, but reformed briefly in 2008 for a few reunion shows.
