Space rock/dream pop masters Mercury Rev will see a host of reissues starting this May, all of them in some way connected to their acclaimed album ‘Deserter’s Songs.’ In conjunction with the re-releases, the band will tour Europe playing the record in its entirety, as part of ATP’s Don’t Look Back concert series. The tour finds the band playing in locations as diverse as Dublin, Prague, Zagreb and Istanbul.
A deluxe 2-CD reissue of the band’s breakthrough album will come with a 13-track bonus disc filled with unreleased outtakes and demos. ‘Deserter’s Songs: Deluxe Edition’ will be put out by Fontana in North America and V2/CO-OP everywhere else. Additionally, a limited amount of deluxe editions will include a 3rd bonus disc with a 70-minute live performance from 2005.
‘Deserter’s Songs,’ along with the bonus album of unreleased material, will both be put out on 180-gram vinyl by US label Light in the Attic Records, who are known for their audiophile-friendly releases.
Finally, there is a remixed and remastered ‘Deserter’s Songs Instrumental Edition,’ which will be the flagship release from Mercury Rev’s own label, Excelsior Melodies.
Post-punk favorites Chameleons UK (now known as Chameleons Vox) will join Mercury Rev on their UK dates.
