Grinderman Call It Quits

Grinderman, the gritty garage rock outfit formed by Nick Cave and his fellow Bad Seeds Warren Ellis, Martyn P. Casey, and Jim Sclavunos in 2006, has run its course, Cave announced.

After the band concluded their set on Saturday night at the Meredith Music Festival in Victoria, Australia, Cave said to the crowd, “That’s it for Grinderman. It’s over. See you in 10 years.” The show was the last stop on their recent Australian tour.

Grinderman released two slabs of sleazy and psychedelic distortion-fueled garage stompers during their 5 years of activity: 2007’s ‘Grinderman’ and 2010’s ‘Grinderman 2.’ The band also toured incessantly, their shows receiving great acclaim for their primal intensity. Here are some videos that show why Grinderman will be missed.
