Extreme Noise Terror Vocalist Phil Vane Dies

Extreme Noise Terror vocalist Phil Vane has passed away at the age of 46.

The English grindcore outfit released the following statement on their official website:

“The rumors are true. We’re sorry to announce that Phil passed away recently. The band will make a full statement soon but for now we need to take the time to come to terms with this terrible loss.”

In 1985, Vane formed Extreme Noise Terror with the band’s second vocalist Dean Jones, guitarist Pete Hurley, bassist Jerry Clay and drummer Pig Killer.

After numerous lineup changes and releases, Vane joined Napalm Death for a brief stint in 1996, only to return to ENT in 1997.

Up until his death, Vane was an influential and innovative figure for many European grindcore bands.
