White Hills aren’t just one of the loudest and most ferociously psychedelic bands ever — they’re also one of the most enigmatic. With their newest LP ‘Frying on This Rock’ coming out on March 20, we thought this might be a good time to inquire with frontman Dave W. about how and why they chose their name. Read on, and you might learn something. Or maybe not.
Who came up with the band name?
I did. I was the only member when I started the band.
How was the name decided upon? Was there a selection process?
Pretty simple, actually. The name came to me one day and stuck ever since.
Is there a particular meaning behind the name?
Yes, but some things are better left unsaid.
What’s the best name that you considered but rejected?
There were no other names considered. When I came up with the name, it was at the same time that I was recording what would become ‘They’ve Got Blood Like We’ve Got Blood,’ which is the first release. It was something that instantly hit me. No name was really considered before or after.
What’s the worst name that you considered using?
There were no other names considered.
