Family. Faith. Pride. Brotherhood. These are the words that Williamsport, PA metalcore band My Heart to Fear live by. The group insists that if it wasn’t for fans backing them since day one, they wouldn’t have made it this far. While the quintet gears up to release their debut full-length, ‘Algorithm,’ on July 9 via Solid State Records, they’ve got us wondering about four other words — the ones that inspired their band name. You might be as surprised as we were to learn about the unexpected source from which it came.

We were waiting for a name we all agreed on, and we all liked My Heart to Fear.
Is there a particular meaning behind the name?
The words are from the second verse of the hymn “Amazing Grace”: “’twas grace that taught my heart to fear.”
