Fools for Rowan are an alt-rock act hailing from Nashville, TN. The quintet have opened for the likes of Evanescence and Sick Puppies, and been touted as “arena rock ready” by ReverbNation cofounder Lou Plaia. Headed by Erin Mullins, the band’s been receiving a fair amount of attention online lately. So, with some buzz building around the group, we decided to find out the full story behind their name. Check it out below.
Who came up with the band name?
Erin came up with the name.
Was there a selection process?
There was a little bit of a selection process, but mainly just a lot of laughing at some of our lame ideas!
Is there a particular meaning behind the name?
Yes! Erin came up with the name Rowan when she combined her mom’s name, Robyn, and her grandpa’s name, Darwin.
Erin: They were always the most supportive of my career and told me to go for it, so it just seemed right that the band be named after them. The “Fools for” just fell into place after that.
What’s the best name that you considered but rejected?
Erin: Gosh, it’s been too long… I can’t really remember any others that we considered! I think there was one with the number five in it though because five is my lucky number!
What’s the worst name that you considered using?
Erin: I vaguely remember coming up with a name that ultimately ended up sounding like a Star Trek episode! It was an awful idea; we chucked that one!
Any regrets about the name you chose?
Nope! It’s working for us so far!
